“A Conversation With God”

I found an old journal stuffed in one of book bags, so I started flipping through it. Every once in a while I write in the form of dialogue with God. To make it feel more personal, I’d call Him, “Friend.” I was going through this particular difficult time and was so caught up in the emotional upheaval of it. I needed to find a way to reconnect with my soul. So I started having a conversation with my best and most trusted Friend.

As I look at His answers, I’m in awe even now at the clarity and simplicity of His words.

“Is it true that someone else can hold us bound within their unforgiving heart?”

“Only if you let them.
I can’t take away the hurt and pain you feel in your heart. However, I can help you to find peace, comfort and joy in Me, as well as others who see the same goodness in your heart that I see. You have come so far in your journey to find your true self. Don’t let the few heartaches you can’t control destroy your spirit. Just keep loving people even the ones who break your heart. Love them in spite of themselves, because in their own pain and sorrow they know not what they do.                 No one can hold you bound unless you let them.”

“What Change Takes”

”Many people look upon change with dread and foreboding.
But for those on the spiritual path—for those who believe in God
and the power of prayer—change is a fuller expression of life.
When a problem or condition arises in your life that indicates a change,
rely upon God, and realize that it is not so much that a door has closed
on a chapter of your life, but rather that a door has opened
on new and more interesting things.”-Emmet Fox

I’ve learned through many experiences in life that when it comes to change I’ve had to learn how to let go. Letting go gets me and my ego out of the way. You see in prayer we ask, but what good does it do to ask if we’re not open to hear His answer.
