“Igniting Empathy”

Standard

“Without inspiration the best powers of the mind remain dormant. There is a fuel in us which needs to be ignited with sparks.”
~ Johann Gottfried Von Herder

I was just reading about a program called “Start Empathy.” It’s about creating changemakers for the good. Imagine a world where our kids and grandchildren could learn to master empathy as easily as math or reading. That’s the aim of this program to empower students, transform schools, and change the world.

I do think though that we can’t just rely on our schools to teach what should be first taught in the home. Kids learn best by example. It can start by simple turning the TV off when you eat, and asking your kids how their day went. The act in itself makes them feel recognized and important, and isn’t that a great starting point for getting into the more empathetic issues?

Now that’s inspiration worth igniting. You can read more about it at startempathy.org or check it out on Start Empathy Facebook.

It’s all about creating goodness in the world.

About connieszone

I've come to know myself as a unique individual expression of God. I love that there is only one me in all the world. I'm still learning, growing and experiencing all the wonders that this life has to teach me. I live, move, and breath in this shell of a body God has given me, and together we travel. He see's, hears, taste, smells and touches all that I experience through the individual personality that I am. I believe He exist in each one of us for the same purpose. I am a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. I love to write and express the many thoughts that swim around in my head. I love to read. I'm a creative crafty kind of person. I love being in my garden. I've been working on my families genecology for 25 years. I think that about sums me up for now.
